The LinuxAid community is built on the foundation of open collaboration, mutual respect, and shared purpose. We are committed to providing a harassment-free, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
- Using welcoming and inclusive language in all interactions
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
- Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes
- Supporting newcomers and first-time contributors
- Focusing on what is best for the overall community
- Use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment in any form
- Publishing others' private information (e.g., address, contact details) without explicit permission
- Violence, threats of violence, or stalking
- Unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention at in-person events
- Conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
The following are also prohibited:
- Providing knowingly false or misleading information in connection with a Code of Conduct investigation
- Retaliating against a person because they reported an incident or acted as a witness
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, including:
- The LinuxAid GitHub repository: issues, pull requests, code reviews, and comments
- Project communication channels (Slack, Mattermost, mailing lists)
- Official social media accounts
- Community events, meetups, and conferences (in-person and virtual)
It does not apply to private interactions unrelated to the project.
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported through the Community Incident Report Form.
You may also contact project maintainers directly via the repository's listed contact channels.
All reports will be reviewed and investigated promptly, treated with strict confidentiality, and responded to within three business days.
Community leaders and maintainers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards. They may remove, edit, or reject contributions not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.
Violations are handled in a tiered manner:
- Correction: A private written warning explaining the violation.
- Warning: A formal warning with restrictions on interaction for a specified period.
- Temporary Ban: Temporary removal from community spaces and channels.
- Permanent Ban: Permanent removal from all public community interaction.
Community members who believe an enforcement action was taken unfairly may appeal by submitting a written explanation via the Community Incident Report Form, labeled as an appeal. Appeals will be reviewed by a different set of community leaders.
Substantive changes to this Code of Conduct will be reviewed by the core maintainer team and announced in the project's primary communication channels. Community feedback is welcome via GitHub issues.
This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant v2.1 and the CNCF Code of Conduct.
