Contributor License Agreement (CLA)

Individual Contributor License Agreement

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Calca ("the Project"). This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") sets out the terms governing any contributions you make to the Project.

1. Definitions

  • "You" means the individual who is making this Agreement with the Project.
  • "Contribution" means any source code, documentation, or other original work of authorship that you intentionally submit to the Project for inclusion in the Project's codebase.
  • "Project Maintainer" means the individual or entity that maintains the Project repository.

2. Grant of Copyright License

Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, You hereby grant to the Project Maintainer and to recipients of software distributed by the Project Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute Your Contributions and such derivative works.

3. Grant of Patent License

Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, You hereby grant to the Project Maintainer and to recipients of software distributed by the Project Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Project, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by You that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution(s) alone or by combination of Your Contribution(s) with the Project to which such Contribution(s) was submitted.

4. Right to Relicense

You agree that the Project Maintainer may relicense Your Contributions under any license, including but not limited to:

  • The GNU Affero General Public License v3 (AGPL-3.0)
  • The Elastic License v2 (ELv2)

This right to relicense is essential to the Project's dual-license business model.

5. You Retain Your Copyright

You retain all right, title, and interest in and to Your Contributions. This Agreement does not transfer ownership of Your Contributions to the Project Maintainer.

6. Original Work

You represent that each of Your Contributions is Your original creation and that You have the legal right to grant the licenses set forth in this Agreement.

You represent that Your Contribution submissions include complete details of any third-party license or other restriction (including, but not limited to, related patents and trademarks) of which You are personally aware and which are associated with any part of Your Contributions.

7. No Obligation

You are not expected to provide support for Your Contributions, except to the extent You desire to do so. You may provide support for free, for a fee, or not at all.

8. Disclaimer

THE PROJECT IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

9. Agreement

By submitting a pull request or otherwise making a Contribution to the Project, You agree to the terms of this Agreement.
