Hey, most of the filtering/sorting half is already in the app. The View menu on /movies and /series has "Recently added" (sorts on the provider's added / last_modified timestamp, so new 2026 uploads of a 2005 movie land on top), plus a language filter, "group languages" and "hide watched". On top of that there's per-category visibility (hide whole groups you never watch), genre categories, and the actor filter, and there's a whole /recently-added page and hub strip. All of it runs off the local IndexedDB catalog cache at display time, so no extra provider calls. If you want a hand-picked subset, custom playlists (Playlists -> new custom playlist) let you curate channels across your other playlists. Plain M3U playlists have no "added" attribute at all, so date sorting is Xtream-only right now. Subtitle filtering isn't really possible without a per-title detail call for every item, which is exactly the rate-limit problem you're trying to avoid. As for Progress sync: we already pass the resume position into MPV/VLC, and the in-app Android player reports its position back, but third-party apps are launched fire-and-forget. I don't want to chase per-app hacks for that, since only some of them can report anything back at all. The plan is an embedded mpv on every platform instead, which gives us the playback position directly for free and makes this work the same everywhere. That's a bigger job, so no ETA, but it's the direction rather than app-specific workarounds. Closing this since the filtering side is mostly covered, but feel free to reply here if you have more on it. New ideas are better off as their own discussion. |

Feature Request: Smart Filtering/Sorting Engine & External Player Progress Sync
🚀 Problem Statement / Motivation
In large IPTV playlists (M3U / Xtream Codes), users often struggle with massive amounts of cluttered, unfiltered content (e.g., unwanted languages, missing subtitles, or mixed sources). Furthermore, while external players (like VLC or MX Player) offer great playback features, users lose the "Continue Watching" progress tracking because external players don't natively sync their playback position back to the app.
