Labels gone on DICOM explorer

Describe the bug. What happened?

After the recent update to 4.7.0, the labels on the series in DICOM explorer are gone. I now have to hover on the thumbnail to see whether it is arterial or venous phase etc.

What version of Weasis are you running?

4.7.0

I cannot reproduce this issue, please give more inputs like:

The issue is not reproducible with the same configuration. Could you verify that the "Series Description" field contains a value.

This is a comparison of the same DICOM file opened on Weasis 4.6.6 and Weasis 4.7.0 on the same computer. The series labels are present on Weasis 4.6.6 and absent on Weasis 4.7.0.
The specs of the computer are:
Processor: Intel i5-10500
OS: Windows 11 Pro version 25 H2, build 26200.8457
Display resolution: 3840 x 2160
Display scaling: 150%

I'm still not able to reproduce this issue. I made a small fix and created a temporary build. Could you try installing it and let me know whether the problem persists? Note: don't keep this version for regular use — reinstall version 4.7 afterward and wait for the next release.

The problem persisted on Weasis 4.7.1-SNAPSHOT build.

Have you tried to:

• maximize or resize the DICOM Explorer panel
• change the display scaling

to see if either action makes a difference?

Yes. The issue persists when maximizing or resizing the DICOM explorer panel, and when changing the display scaling too. For example, I changed the display scaling in my 1920 x 1080 laptop to 125% (from 150%), and I opened DICOM file of another patient (MRI brain). The issue persists. As you can see in the screenshot below, only one series has label in it. Others don't have. And I have to hover to see the series name in the popup. This issue didn't exist in Weasis 4.6.6 (for the same DICOM file).

We can see that a label is displayed on your screenshot, which means it can be rendered and seems to be tied to specific data. So this could be an issue related to the data itself rather than the display.

Could you check the Series Description value using the DICOM information tools (selecting the DICOM Information layout from the layouts dropdown)? What would be interesting is to compare the first image and the middle image of the series, and check whether they have a different value for Series Description.

Otherwise, could you share a dataset to see I can reproduce the issue.
