Project: HelloMCP .NET MCP Server Validation & Integration

🎯 Current Status: COMPLETE & VALIDATED

    • Built and tested complete .NET MCP server
    • All endpoints working: initialize, session, completions, streaming
    • Statistical analysis and text completion features validated
    • Session management fully functional
    • Error handling and CORS configuration verified

Status: Docker MCP server implementation is now complete with full feature parity to the .NET version. Uses pure Docker workflows (no build scripts required) with Docker Compose for seamless development and deployment.

Goal: Enhance MCP server with additional capabilities

Tasks:

  • Add more MCP protocol features (resources, prompts)
  • Implement advanced AI integration
  • Add database persistence for sessions

💡 Recommended Approach

Based on current status, I recommend Option 2: VS Code Extension Development as the next logical step because:

  1. Natural Progression: We have a working MCP server and basic VS Code config
  2. High Impact: Would create seamless integration with GitHub Copilot
  3. Practical Value: Immediate usability improvement for end users
  4. Learning Opportunity: Deep dive into VS Code extension development
  5. Showcase Potential: Demonstrates full integration capabilities

Phase 1 (Immediate - 2-3 days):

  • Create basic VS Code extension structure
  • Implement MCP API wrapper functions
  • Add simple commands for stat analysis and text completion
  • Test basic integration with running MCP server

Phase 2 (Follow-up - 3-5 days):

  • Integrate with VS Code chat/Copilot APIs
  • Add advanced features (streaming, session management)
  • Package extension for local testing
  • Create user documentation

Phase 3 (Polish - 2-3 days):

  • Add error handling and user feedback
  • Create configuration UI
  • Prepare for marketplace submission
