Roadmap

Phase 0: Proof of Concept

Public repo that communicates what this is.

  • Create GitHub repo
  • Architecture documentation
  • README with vision and component descriptions
  • Code audit for hardcoded paths / secrets
  • Config schema design
  • Directory layout for monorepo
  • Screenshots of dashboard and learning loop output

Phase 0.5: Presentation and Documentation

Repo polish, docs, SEO, discoverability.

  • cortex init CLI (working end-to-end)
  • Skills catalog documentation
  • Hooks deep-dive documentation
  • Learning loop documentation
  • README rewrite (Quick Start, badges, comparison table, SEO)
  • ROADMAP update
  • Issue templates
  • Social preview image / logo

Phase 1: Core Generalization

The 8 hooks + learning loop + cortex engine work from config, not hardcoded paths.

  • cortex.config.json schema (JSON Schema validated)
  • cortex init CLI command
  • Hooks: replace all hardcoded paths with $CORTEX_HOME / config lookups
  • analyze.py: configurable thresholds, window, sources
  • Cortex compiler: multi-source registry merge (core + user + domain packs)
  • Session management: generalize paths
  • Unit tests for critical paths

Phase 2: MCP Servers + Search

Optional MCP servers installable via CLI.

  • Generalize context-engine (configurable collections, data paths)
  • Generalize unified-search (adapter registration)
  • Package each as separate npm module
  • cortex add <component> commands
  • Embed provider: add OpenAI, local transformer backends

Phase 3: Domain Pack System

Anyone can create and install a domain pack.

  • Domain pack manifest format (cortex-module.json)
  • cortex add domain-pack <name> / cortex create domain-pack <name>
  • Extract first community domain pack
  • "How to Create a Domain Pack" guide

Phase 4: Polish and Community

Ready for others to use and contribute.

  • Dashboard generalized
  • Cross-platform testing (Linux, WSL)
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions
  • npm publish pipeline
  • Example domain packs (2-3)
  • Blog post / announcement
