Hi, I'm Merill π
If you've looked up a Graph permission, jumped to an admin portal with cmd.ms, turned a portal click into PowerShell with Graph X-Ray, or run Maester against your tenant, you've probably used something I built.
I spent years as a Principal Product Manager on the Microsoft Entra team. Along the way I kept building small tools to fix the everyday problems admins and security teams told me about. Those side projects grew. In 2026 I left Microsoft to work on them independently, and today they're used by hundreds of thousands of people every month:
| Project | What it does | Reach |
|---|---|---|
| Graph Permissions Explorer | Look up exactly what every Microsoft Graph permission can access | 2.2M visits / month |
| Maester | Open-source test automation and security analysis for your Microsoft 365 tenant, which I co-created and build with a great community of contributors | 625K+ installs |
| cmd.ms | Short URLs for every Microsoft admin portal and doc | 109K visits / month |
| CyberSecPods | A curated directory of cybersecurity podcasts | 92K visits / month |
| Yako | A browser start page with 900+ Microsoft portals | 29K visits / month |
| Graph X-Ray | Turns what you click in the portal into Graph PowerShell | 19K monthly users |
| Lokka | Lets AI agents manage your tenant through Microsoft Graph | 11K visits / month |
There's more on merill.net: idPowerToys, the Message Center archive, graph.pm, Uninstall-Graph, bluesky.ms, Refined Microsoft Learn. Every week I also write Entra.News (19K readers) and host the Entra.Chat podcast.
No investors, just you
I don't have a venture fund, equity investors or a big company paying me to keep these tools running. It's me, and hosting bills that go up every time a tool gets more popular. None of these tools make money on their own.
I'd like to keep it that way. With no investors, nobody can push me to paywall Graph Permissions Explorer, fill cmd.ms with ads, or drop a tool that "doesn't monetise." The people I answer to are the people who use the tools. That's you.
So I'm asking the community directly: if these tools save you time, please help fund them.
Helping me helps me help you
What your sponsorship pays for:
- π₯οΈ Keeping the lights on. Hosting, domains and API costs for the free sites, so they stay fast, free and ad-free.
- π§ͺ My time on Maester. Writing new tests and reviewing community contributions so Maester keeps up with every new Entra, Intune, Exchange and Defender feature Microsoft ships.
- π οΈ Maintenance. Graph APIs change, portals move and modules break. Sponsors buy me the hours to fix things before you notice.
- π‘ New tools. Most of these started as "someone should build that." Sponsorship gives me room to build the next one.
Every sponsorship, from a coffee a month to a company logo, turns into hours spent on the tools you use.
About Maester Cloud: Sponsoring is a donation to my open-source work. It doesn't include a Maester Cloud subscription, deployment support or a spot on the Maester Cloud supporters wall. If you want the hosted product, see maester.dev. Both keep Maester going.
Thank you for being part of this. π
