@m4dzer0 Thanks - a clear case. Where it stands: a birthday belongs to the whole household. It has no field for whom it is relevant to and no visibility of its own, and its calendar entry is assigned to nobody, which is why the person filter in the calendar cannot narrow it. What exists is all or nothing: the "Birthdays" switch in the calendar filter and the birthdays option on the calendar tile hide all of them. The reminder of a birthday is already personal - it is set for the person who added the entry. Your example can be read two ways, and they lead to different things:
Which one would you want? Nothing is decided yet and there is no date. |

@m4dzer0 Thanks, that settles it - a filter it is, and your reason is a good one: a birthday entered once stays one entry, and who it matters to can change later without anybody typing it again. I have written it up as #2233: a birthday can name the people it matters to, and the Birthdays list and the calendar can be narrowed to the ones that name you. A birthday that names nobody stays everyone's, so the ones you already have do not change. Not built, no date. This thread stays open until it is released. |
Uh oh!

Birthday calendar entries are currently displayed "globally" for all family members. However, certain birthdays may only be relevant to specific family members. For example, the birthdays of my wife's colleagues are not of interest to me.
I propose implementing a filter that allows users to select individual or multiple family members to see their respective birthdays. This is already possible for calendar entries.
