Dependency problems in 2.4 .deb

The .deb from the last release has some issues according to lintian but more importantly the package cannot be installed on Debian because it depends on gir1.2-appindicator3-0.1 but the Debian packages are named gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1 for a long time afaik (not exactly sure about the history...). Ubuntu seems to continue shipping the non-ayatana version. I'd suggest supporting them both by changing the requirement to include | gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1 and handling both possibilities in the code similar to what's done here https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/-/merge_requests/141/diffs

Sounds good to me, but my I've moved on to a rewrite in golang. I see I haven't published it, so I'll try to do that.

Meanwhile, do you want to create a PR for this? =)

I presume with "this" you mean my suggestion? Does that make any sense if you release the go version in the foreseeable future?

Well, depends on if the go version works for you. =) It's made to use BT more correctly, while this version was misusing a debug tool. I'll post link to the new repo here.
