This project analyses a real-world hiring assessment dataset where candidates are evaluated on communication skills, structured thinking, fluency, preparation, and background profile.
The objective is to understand:
What actually drives candidate selection — profile, preparation, or skill?
Instead of only visualising data, this project focuses heavily on analytical insights and then supports them using meaningful visualisations.
Recruiters often struggle to identify whether hiring decisions are influenced by:
- Candidate background
- Interview behaviour
- Communication ability
- Measurable performance scores
This project answers:
What separates rejected, selected, and premium candidates?
The dataset contains 18,510 candidate interview records and 30 attributes divided into the following categories:
- Age, Gender, Education
- Experience & Employment Status
- Previous Salary (CTC)
- Candidate Type (Fresher / Experienced)
- Interview Mode
- PPT Preparation
- Willingness to Relocate
- Role Acceptance Confidence
- Prior Discussion Before Applying
Each candidate is scored on a scale (1–3) across multiple rounds:
Confidence
- Introduction
- Topic Speaking
- PPT Explanation
- Sales Scenario
Structured Thinking
- Regional Explanation
- PPT Question
- Call Pitch
Fluency
- Topic Discussion
- PPT Question
- Sales Scenario
- Confidence Score
- Structured Thinking Score
- Fluency Score
- Total Score
- Final Verdict (Reject / Borderline / Select / Premium Select)
The project answers 55 analytical business questions, including:
- Minimum score required for selection
- Which skill influences hiring the most
- Whether preparation improves selection chances
- Identification of elimination interview rounds
- Balanced vs specialist candidate preference
- Overqualified candidate behaviour
- Profile bias vs skill-based hiring
- Characteristics of premium candidates
Only meaningful visuals were used to support insights:
- Score vs Hiring Decision
- Skill Importance Correlation
- Preparation vs Selection Rate
- Interview Elimination Round
- Balanced Candidate Preference
- Profile Bias Check
- Premium Candidate Score Pattern
- Hiring decisions are strongly skill-driven rather than profile-driven
- Structured thinking and confidence impact selection more than fluency
- Preparation significantly increases success probability
- Recruiters prefer balanced candidates over specialists
- Premium candidates follow a clear high-score threshold pattern
- Python
- Pandas
- NumPy
- Seaborn
- Matplotlib

The analysis shows that hiring decisions in communication-heavy roles are primarily determined by demonstrated ability and preparation, not candidate background.
This project demonstrates real-world analytical thinking:
Moving beyond charts → deriving actionable hiring insights.
