RE-HARMONY lets you change the settings on your Logitech Harmony One remote control. The official Logitech software no longer works well for this older model. This tool fills that gap.
You can update device codes, change button assignments, and adjust activity settings. The software runs on your Windows computer and connects to your remote via USB.
Your computer needs these things to run RE-HARMONY:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- Processor: 1 GHz or faster
- Memory: 1 GB RAM
- Storage: 50 MB free space
- USB Port: One available USB port for the remote cable
- Internet: Required for downloading updates
Follow these steps to get RE-HARMONY running on your computer.
Visit the RE-HARMONY releases page to download the latest version.
Look for the file named RE-HARMONY-Windows-Setup.exe. Click on it to start the download. Your browser may ask where to save the file. Pick a location you can find easily, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Find the downloaded file and double-click it. Windows may show a security warning. This is normal. Click "Run" or "Yes" to continue.
The installer will guide you through the setup. Accept the default options unless you know what you are doing. The installation takes about one minute.
Plug your Logitech Harmony One remote into your computer using the USB cable that came with it. The remote should turn on and show "Connected to computer" on its screen.
RE-HARMONY will detect the remote automatically. If nothing happens, unplug the remote and plug it back in.
Open RE-HARMONY from your Start menu or desktop shortcut. The main window shows your remote's current configuration.
You can now:
- View all devices programmed into your remote
- Add new devices
- Change button mappings
- Modify activity sequences
- Backup your current configuration
- Restore a previous backup
When you open the software for the first time, you will see a welcome screen. Click "Start" to load your remote's current setup.
The software reads all settings from your remote. This takes 10-20 seconds. Do not unplug the remote during this step.
The Devices tab shows every device your remote controls. You can:
- Add a new device: Click "Add Device" and search for your TV, soundbar, or other gear. The software has a large database of device codes.
- Remove a device: Select a device and click "Remove". This deletes it from your remote.
- Edit device settings: Change the device name, input commands, or power settings.
The Buttons tab lets you change what each button does. Select a device first, then choose a button to edit.
Each button can perform one action per device. Common actions include:
- Power on/off
- Volume up/down
- Channel change
- Input select
- Custom commands (like "play" or "pause")
Activities are sequences of commands. For example, "Watch TV" might turn on your TV, set the correct input, and turn on your soundbar.
To edit an activity:
- Go to the Activities tab
- Select the activity you want to change
- Add or remove devices from the sequence
- Adjust the order of commands
- Add delays between commands if needed
Always backup your remote before making changes. This keeps your settings safe.
To backup:
- Click "Backup" in the main menu
- Choose a save location
- Name your backup file
- Click "Save"
To restore a backup:
- Click "Restore"
- Find your backup file
- Click "Open"
- Wait for the restore to finish
If RE-HARMONY does not see your remote:
- Check the USB cable connection
- Try a different USB port
- Restart the software
- Restart your computer
If the software stops working:
- Make sure you have the latest version
- Run the installer again to repair the installation
- Update your Windows system
If your remote displays an error message:
- Unplug the remote from the computer
- Remove the remote's batteries
- Wait 30 seconds
- Put the batteries back in
- Plug the remote back into the computer
Download RE-HARMONY for Windows
The download link takes you to the releases page. Look for the most recent release. Download the file that ends with .exe. This is the Windows installer.
The installer offers two options:
- Standard Install: Puts the program in your Program Files folder
- Portable Install: Creates a folder you can move to a USB drive
Most users should choose the standard install.
RE-HARMONY checks for updates when you open it. If a new version exists, the software asks if you want to update. Click "Yes" to download and install the update.
You can also check for updates manually. Go to the Help menu and select "Check for Updates".
- Backup first: Always save your current settings before making changes
- Update regularly: New device codes get added often
- Use the database: Search for your devices instead of typing codes manually
- Test changes: After updating a device, test it before changing more settings
- Keep cables: Use the original USB cable that came with your remote
