Custom Home Assistant integration for the RNX UPDU® (Universal Power Distribution Unit). Provides real-time power monitoring and outlet control over the local network.
- Power monitoring per outlet and PDU-level: power (W), current (A), voltage (V), energy (kWh), power factor, apparent power (VA), reactive power (var)
- Environment sensors: temperature (°C), humidity (%), differential pressure (Pa) from connected sensor probes
- Residual current monitoring: RMS and DC residual current (mA) on supported hardware
- Outlet switching to turn individual outlets on or off
- Outlet lock to prevent accidental switching of critical outlets
- Power cycle button per outlet with configurable delay
- Controller reboot button with optional delay and cancel
- Physical identification button to blink the LED on a specific outlet or module
- LED brightness control for the front-panel display
- Relay state binary sensor per outlet
- Alarm binary sensors for active threshold conditions (overcurrent, over-temperature, etc.)
- Uptime sensor for monitoring controller availability
- Diagnostics support for easy bug reporting
- Open HACS in Home Assistant
- Go to Integrations > Custom repositories
- Add
https://github.com/newspicel/rnx-homeassistantas an Integration - Search for "RNX UPDU" and install
- Restart Home Assistant
- Copy the
custom_components/rnx_pdudirectory into your Home Assistantcustom_componentsfolder - Restart Home Assistant
- Go to Settings > Devices & Services > Add Integration
- Search for "RNX UPDU"
- Enter the host (IP address or hostname), username, and password of your PDU
The integration targets the UPDU Web API (BETA) as shipped with firmware
4.4.0, documented at https://<pdu-host>/apidocs-beta.
RNX notes that this API is not stable and may change between firmware versions, and its version tracks the firmware rather than following semantic versioning. The integration therefore discovers the wiring tree by the properties each node carries rather than by the node type numbers, which differ between firmware versions.
Switch, lock, power cycle and relay entities are only created for outlets that actually have a relay; metered-only outlets get their sensors alone.
