🚀 WebsiteStars - Save, Search, and Understand Your Web Library

Download WebsiteStars

📚 What Is WebsiteStars?

WebsiteStars is a free application for your computer that helps you save the websites, articles, and coding resources you find online, and then find them again when you need them. Think of it as a personal library for the internet.

Instead of losing track of interesting links or forgetting where you read something important, WebsiteStars keeps everything organized and searchable on your own computer. You can even ask questions about your saved content and get answers.

✨ Key Features

🗂️ Save Anything You Browse

While you're reading a webpage, article, or documentation, WebsiteStars lets you save it with a single click. You can add tags to organize your saves, making it simple to group related topics together.

🔍 Instant Local Search

Forget scrolling through endless browser history or bookmarks. WebsiteStars indexes everything you save and gives you fast, accurate search results. Find what you need in seconds, even if you only remember a word or phrase from the original page.

🤖 Optional AI Question-Answering

This feature is entirely optional. If you choose to enable it, you can ask WebsiteStars questions about the content you've saved. For example, "What were the key points from that article about database design?" The AI will search through your saved sources to provide an answer, with context from your own library.

💾 Local-First Storage

Your data stays on your computer. No cloud accounts, no syncing to third-party servers, no privacy concerns. Your saved content is accessible even when you're offline.

🌐 Built for Chrome

WebsiteStars is optimized for Chrome browsers (version 120 or later), so if you use Chrome, you'll get the best experience.

🚀 Getting Started

📥 Download and Installation

Step 1: Visit the official download page:

Download WebsiteStars

Step 2: Visit this link to download the application.

Step 3: Once the download finishes, look in your "Downloads" folder. You'll see a file named WebsiteStars (it may be in a .zip archive). If it's a zip file, right-click and choose "Extract All" to unzip it. Then, open the folder and double-click the application file to launch WebsiteStars.

Step 4: After the first launch, WebsiteStars may guide you through a quick setup. Follow the on-screen instructions, which typically involve allowing the app to connect to your Chrome browser.

🛠️ System Requirements

WebsiteStars is designed to run smoothly on most modern Windows computers. Here's what you need:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Any dual-core processor from the last 5-6 years
  • Memory (RAM): At least 4 GB (8 GB recommended)
  • Storage: 500 MB of free disk space for the application and saved content
  • Browser: Google Chrome (version 120 or higher). You can download Chrome for free at google.com/chrome.

📖 How to Use WebsiteStars

Step 1: Launch the Application

After installation, open WebsiteStars from your desktop or Start Menu. You'll see the main window with a search bar and a list of your saved items.

Step 2: Connect to Your Browser

On first use, WebsiteStars will ask you to connect it to Chrome. This allows the app to see what you're browsing and offer a quick "Save" button. Click "Connect" and follow the simple prompts.

Step 3: Save Your First Item

When you're on a webpage you want to keep, click the WebsiteStars icon in your browser toolbar, or use the save button inside the app. A small window will appear asking you to add optional tags (like "research," "tutorial," or "news"). Click "Save," and it's stored in your library.

Step 4: Search Your Library

Open the WebsiteStars app whenever you need to find something. Type a word or phrase in the search box. Results appear instantly as you type. You can also browse by clicking on tags in the sidebar.

Step 5: Ask a Question (Optional)

If you want to use the AI feature, look for the "Ask" tab. Type a question about your saved content, and WebsiteStars will scan your library to provide an answer. This is a paid or premium feature in some versions; check the app for details.

🎯 Tips for Best Results

  • Tag as you save: Adding 2-3 tags per item makes finding things much easier later.
  • Save regularly: Make it a habit to save anything you think you might need in the future.
  • Organize by project: Use tags like "work-project-alpha" or "home-renovation" to keep related items together.
  • Use specific search terms: The search function works best with specific words rather than generic ones like "article."

🆘 Troubleshooting & Support

The application won't start

  • Make sure your Windows is up to date.
  • Check that you have the latest version of Chrome installed.
  • Try restarting your computer and launching WebsiteStars again.

The Chrome connection isn't working

  • Ensure Chrome is open and running.
  • Check your browser extensions—make sure WebsiteStars isn't blocked.
  • Re-launch WebsiteStars and try the "Reconnect" button in Settings.

I can't find a saved item
