Architecture Pattern: MVVM + Clean Architecture
Key Libraries: Jetpack Compose Β· Room Β· Hilt Β· Coroutines Β· WorkManager
- Android Studio Hedgehog (2023.1.1) or later
- Android SDK API 24+
- Kotlin 1.9+
- A physical or virtual Android device
-
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/abirami-025/CyberGuardian.git
-
Open in Android Studio: Go to
File β Openand select the clonedCyberGuardianfolder. -
Configure API Keys (Third-Party Integrations): To enable all security scanning vectors, you need to configure your API keys in the
local.propertiesfile:[!TIP] Android Studio usually generates the
local.propertiesfile automatically. If it does not exist in your root directory, simply create a new blank text file and name it exactlylocal.properties.Open
local.propertiesand add the following keys:# Inforge API Integration (Threat Intelligence) # Get key from: https://inforge.io INFORGE_BASE_URL="https://api.inforge.com/v1/" INFORGE_API_KEY="your_inforge_api_key_here" # VirusTotal API Integration (File & URL Scanning) # Get key from: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/my-apikey VIRUSTOTAL_API_KEY="your_virustotal_api_key_here"
(Note: The
local.propertiesfile is automatically ignored by Git via.gitignoreto prevent any credentials from being exposed publicly.) -
Sync and Run: Let Gradle sync finish, and click the Run button to deploy to your device or emulator!
- Real-time monitoring via Android
AccessibilityServiceandUsageStatsManager - Network analysis using
NetworkCallbackand traffic inspection APIs - Privacy tracking through
AppOpsManagerfor granular permission auditing - Risk scoring algorithm combining multiple independent threat vectors
- Battery-efficient background processing via
WorkManagerscheduled tasks - Secure local storage using encrypted Room database
Developed as part of an MSc in Cybersecurity dissertation, demonstrating:
- β Practical application of Android security APIs
- β Real-time threat intelligence implementation
- β Privacy-first mobile application design principles
- β MVVM Clean Architecture with Kotlin best practices
- β Ethical security monitoring with user transparency
