Polyathlon is a 3D racing game in which you compete in various athlons, featuring multiple ways of racing within a single course!
Each race in Polyathlon features multiple movemet modes, allowing players to change how they get around for different legs of the race. Current modes include:
- Running
- Swimming
- Biking
- Jetpacking
- Gliding
- Wheeling
Each race course takes the player to a different distinct location, and some courses even start in a different place than they end. Go to exciting destinations such as:
- A City
- Moutains
- Lakes
- The Mall
- The Sky
Racers can obtain and use a variety of items to either improve your own performance, mess with your opponents, or both! Throw projectiles (watermelons) at your foes, leave traps on the track for them to stumble over, boost your own speed, or make stuff explode!
Polyathlon allows for up to 4 to join in on the fun with a classic splitscreen view. Additional players can simply connect a gamepad controller to the device running Polyathlon and can join when selecting characters.
Polyathlon was created in 2020 by Matt Graber and Matt Vorsteg (Baby Banjo Studios) as a final project at UMD. You can see a video walkthrough of the original version's gameplay here. Matt & Matt have periodically updated the game with new races, items, features, and bug fixes.
