codemagic-init does two things:
-
Generate a
codemagic.yaml— inspects your project (pubspec.yaml,build.gradle,Podfile, …), asks a few questions about platforms, signing, distribution, and notifications, and writes a ready-to-commitcodemagic.yamlalong with a checklist of what still needs to be configured in Codemagic. -
Give your coding agent Codemagic knowledge — if a coding agent is detected (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, …),
initinstalls Codemagic skills into its context: the full docs and knowledge base so it can answer Codemagic-specific questions, help debug build failures, and suggest fixes. Skills are kept fresh by a cron job that refreshes them every 6 hours.
pip install codemagic-initThat puts codemagic on your PATH so you can run it from any project.
codemagic # show help
codemagic init # scan → ask → write ./codemagic.yaml + install agent skills
codemagic update # refresh skills and knowledge base manually
codemagic uninstall # remove Codemagic skills from all agent config filesRun codemagic init from anywhere to install agent skills. To also generate a codemagic.yaml, run it from your project root — detected values (project type, platforms, application ids) are shown as defaults, press Enter to accept or type to override.
If a codemagic.yaml already exists, init asks before overwriting and saves the previous file to codemagic.yaml.bak.
