search_media_appearances now also covers documents published by official institutions, starting with the Federal Reserve and the FOMC. This PR documents the two new filters (institution, country), the new appearance_type values, and the three result fields an official-document row carries (institution, document_kind, event_date). Plugin version 0.37.2 → 0.38.0 in both plugin manifests.

What changes for a reader of the docs

The signature gains two filters. institution is a case-insensitive substring of the publishing institution; country is the ISO code of its country. Either one restricts every target to official documents, because interview rows carry no institution.

appearance_type has new values. Interviews keep podcast, tv_interview, conference, other. Official documents add speech, testimony, minutes, statement, press_conference, hearing. Discount-rate minutes count as minutes; implementation notes and the longer-run goals statement count as statement; projections tables are other.

Two dates on an official document. date_from / date_to still bound the publication date. Official rows also carry event_date. Minutes are published about three weeks after the meeting, so the docs tell the reader to quote the meeting date for what the Committee discussed and the publication date for when it became public.

source_url variants. A timestamped YouTube link for a video, the episode page for a podcast, the document page for an official document, and for a PDF transcript the page the finding is on (...pdf#page=7).

Before / after

Same question: "What did the FOMC say about the balance sheet in the July 2026 meeting?"

Before this PR the playbook only describes interview rows. A reader would call

search_media_appearances(query="balance sheet", person="Federal Open Market Committee")

and had no guidance on which of the two dates on a minutes row to quote, nor that #page= links exist.

After this PR the playbook shows

search_media_appearances(query="balance sheet", appearance_type="minutes",
                         institution="Federal Reserve", date_from="2026-08-01")

and the evidence rule: "In the minutes of the FOMC meeting of 2026-07-29, published 2026-08-19, the Committee ..." with the document page link.

Files

  • skills/factiq/SKILL.md: tool signature and parameter notes.
  • references/report-patterns/media-intelligence.md: intro, event-date paragraph, parameter table rows, narrowing list, result shape, evidence bullets and example phrasing.
  • .claude-plugin/plugin.json, .codex-plugin/plugin.json: 0.38.0.

Do not merge before the server change that adds these parameters is live.

…ew appearance types

search_media_appearances now also covers official documents (Federal Reserve
speeches, congressional testimony, FOMC minutes, statements, press-conference
transcripts). The skill and the media-intelligence reference describe the two
new parameters (institution, country), the new appearance_type values
(speech, testimony, minutes, statement, press_conference, hearing), the
document fields on result rows (institution, document_kind, event_date) and
the page-level link into PDF transcripts.

Both plugin versions move from 0.37.2 to 0.38.0.
