The skill and the earnings guide now tell agents how to ask for the earnings calls of companies listed in India. These companies are stored under their NSE symbol with the .NS suffix, for example RELIANCE.NS and TCS.NS. Before this change the docs gave only US examples, so an agent had no way to know which form to send.

The problem: the docs did not say how Indian tickers are written

search_earnings_transcripts covers companies listed in India. An agent that follows the docs sends a plain symbol. That works for most symbols, but two cases give a result the agent does not expect, and the docs did not warn about either.

The fix: one paragraph in the earnings guide and one sentence in the skill

The new text says:

  • Use the .NS form: ticker="TCS.NS". A plain NSE symbol (ticker="TCS") is also accepted, and the response reports it in read_as_exchange_symbol.
  • A symbol that is also a US ticker selects the US listing alone. INFY is Infosys's US-listed shares and INFY.NS is its NSE listing. The two carry separate calls.
  • A plain symbol that also fits another company's name selects every company it fits. ticker="RELIANCE" selects both Reliance Inc. (RS) and RELIANCE.NS. The agent must read company_tickers and repeat the call with the full ticker.
  • Indian fiscal years end in March, so FY2026Q1 of an Indian company is April to June 2025.

Example

Coverage lookup with ticker="TCS":

{"columns": ["ticker", "company_name", "sector", "calls_covered", "earliest_period", "latest_period", "..."],
 "results": [["TCS.NS", "Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.", "Information Technology", 18, "FY2022Q4", "FY2027Q1", "..."]],
 "company_tickers": ["TCS.NS"],
 "read_as_exchange_symbol": {"TCS": "TCS.NS"}}

Details

  • Files: skills/factiq/SKILL.md (the search_earnings_transcripts row), references/report-patterns/earnings-intelligence.md (the coverage section).
  • New test test_indian_companies_use_the_nse_suffix in tests/test_earnings_docs.py keeps the .NS guidance in both files. All 80 tests pass.
  • Version 0.38.0 to 0.38.1 in both plugin files.

Earnings calls of companies listed in India are stored under the NSE symbol
with the .NS suffix (RELIANCE.NS, TCS.NS). The skill and the earnings guide
now say so, so an agent asks for the right company the first time.

The text also covers the two cases that need care. INFY is the US listing of
Infosys and INFY.NS is its NSE listing, with separate calls. A plain symbol
that also fits another company's name (RELIANCE fits Reliance Inc.) selects
every company it fits, so the agent must read company_tickers and repeat the
call with the full ticker. It also notes that Indian fiscal years end in
March.

Version 0.38.1.
