OLO was started in the spirit of PLOrk (Princeton Laptop Orchestra): each performer with a laptop, speakers, and controllers — exploring collaborative laptop musicking without a central PA.
- Laptops are instruments, performed with the same care as acoustic sections.
- Digital possibilities and social playing are embraced.
- Only the extended instrument speaks — no external amplification.
Regular laptops with active studio speakers (or comparable powered monitors) so each station is audible in the ensemble without a house system.
The ensemble is organized as a pool of musicians. People who have participated include:
