Grocery Store Database Project

Oracle SQL database and Java/JDBC console application for a local grocery store order-management project.

Project Context

This project was developed by a team of four students:

  • DERGHAZI Ziyad
  • FAKHREI Nizar
  • KATNI Mohammed Mamoune
  • SEGHYAR Moatassem

Contents

  • sql_scripts/tables.sql: database schema.
  • sql_scripts/seed_data.sql: sample data.
  • sql_scripts/feature1_order_placement.sql: order placement transaction outline.
  • sql_scripts/feature2_expiry_alerts.sql: expiry alerts and automatic reduction.
  • sql_scripts/feature3_order_closing.sql: order closing transaction.
  • sql_scripts/drop_tables.sql: cleanup script.
  • java_app/src: Java/JDBC console application.

Build

The Oracle JDBC driver is not included in the repository. Put ojdbc8.jar in java_app/lib/, then run:

cd java_app
make

Run

Set your Oracle credentials through environment variables:

export ORACLE_USER="your_username"
export ORACLE_PASSWORD="your_password"
cd java_app
make run

If the variables are not set, the program asks for credentials at startup.
