🕐 Website Time Tracker

A privacy-first Chrome extension that tracks how much time you spend on each website — inspired by Google's Digital Wellbeing.

📖 About The Project

Website Time Tracker is a Chrome browser extension inspired by Google's Digital Wellbeing feature on Android — but built for your browser!

It silently tracks how much time you spend on each website and displays a beautiful summary of your browsing habits. Whether you're trying to reduce time on social media, improve productivity, or just curious about your digital habits — this extension gives you a clear visual breakdown.

Your data stays 100% private — nothing is sent to any server. Everything is stored locally on your device.

✨ Features

  • 🎯 Automatic Tracking — Silently tracks time spent on every website
  • 🌐 Smart Domain Grouping — Groups by domain (e.g., all YouTube pages count as youtube.com)
  • ⏸️ Intelligent Pausing — Automatically pauses when:
    • Browser is minimized
    • You switch to another application
    • You're idle for 60+ seconds
  • 🎨 Beautiful UI — Clean, modern design inspired by Digital Wellbeing
  • 🌙 Dark & Light Mode — Comfortable viewing any time of day
  • 📊 Live Statistics — See tab switches, websites visited, and total time
  • 🔢 Tab Switch Counter — Track how often you switch between tabs
  • 🖼️ Live Favicons — Real website icons for easy identification
  • 📊 Progress Bars — Visual comparison of website usage
  • 🔒 100% Private — All data stored locally using chrome.storage.local
  • 🔄 Easy Reset — Clear all data with one click
  • ⚡ Lightweight — Minimal resource usage

Your privacy is our top priority:
