From generation 45, the colony alternates between 2 forms with a steady population of 7 cells.
Founded by 122 cells, one for each day I contributed in the last year · updated 30 Sep 2026
What is this?
Every day, a GitHub Action takes my contribution graph from the past year and turns every day I committed into a live cell. Then it runs Conway's Game of Life on it:
- a live cell with 2 or 3 live neighbours survives,
- a dead cell with exactly 3 live neighbours comes alive,
- everything else dies.
The grid wraps around at the edges. The colony either goes extinct, settles at a stable population, falls into a repeating cycle, or is still evolving after 150 generations. The caption says which happened.
