Mute and Push-to-talk not working when video conferencing in Web Browser

Describe your issue

I am participating in Video Conferences via Helium Browser and Safari. I want to use PTT, so I am not dependent on the VC platform's mute buttons for muting my microphone.

Mute and PTT do not work with my Browsers (Helium and Safari). Allthough BetterAudio shows that my Mic is muted and the PTT notification is active on screen, I can be heard within the conference.

Steps to reproduce

1. Start video conferencing in Browser (Helium 0.16.2.1, Safari 26.6.2)
2. Mute active microphone in BetterAudio
3. speak and be heard in video conference

What was the expected result?

Mute should work as expected and shown in BetterAudio, PTT should activate mic. Mic should otherwise be muted as long as PTT shortcut is not pressed on keyboard
