The macadamia iMessage app currently lets users send Bitcoin/ecash directly from Messages, which is a very useful feature.
However, the iMessage send flow only appears to support entering an amount in sats. In the main macadamia iOS app, I can enter a send amount denominated in my chosen fiat currency, for example GBP, and the app converts this to sats.
It would be useful if the iMessage app had the same fiat-denominated send option.
Current behaviour
In the iMessage app:
- Open Messages
- Select macadamia from the iMessage apps
- Choose a recipient/mint
- Enter an amount
The amount is entered in sats only.
Expected behaviour
The iMessage app should allow the user to enter an amount in their selected fiat currency, matching the main app behaviour.
For example:
- User enters 10 GBP
- App shows the converted amount in sats
- User generates/sends the token as normal
Ideally, the iMessage app would use the same fiat currency preference and exchange-rate logic as the main app.
Why this matters
For casual “pocket money” payments, fiat-denominated entry is much more intuitive. If I want to send someone £5 or £10 worth of Bitcoin in Messages, I currently have to manually convert that to sats first, even though the main app already supports this flow.
